Arsenal Announce £242.8m Turnover


AFP– Arsenal on Monday reported a rise in turnover to £242.8 million ($389 million, 288 million euros) as the Gunners claimed their improved finances was a significant factor in the club record signing of Mesut Ozil.Despite reduced profits due to a drop in income from player sales and an increase in players’ wages, Arsenal saw overall turnover rise in the year ending May 31 2013 from £235.3 million the previous year.

Racism Allegation: Keshi Responds To FIFA Query


Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, in collaboration with his employers the Nigeria Football Federation, has responded to the query the world football governing body, FIFA issued him. The query is over his alleged racist remark targeted at Malawi technical adviser Tom Sainfiet.

Manchester United Announce Record £363.2m Turnover



AFP– English football giants Manchester United announced record financial results on Wednesday after a year of rapid commercial expansion. Having added a glut of new sponsors to their portfolio over the past 12 months, the 20-time English champions saw revenues rise 29.7 % to £152.5 million ($243.5 million, 182.4 million euros) for the year ending June 30, 2013.

Nigeria has been drawn alongside Mali, South Africa and Mozambique in the Orange African Nations Championship billed for South Africa in January 2014.The draw held in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday also pitched Zimbabwe, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Morocco together in group B.

American Floyd Mayweather produced a masterclass as he outboxed Saul Canelo Alvarez to take the Mexican’s WBA and WBC super welterweight titles by majority decision in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Nasarawa Boils Again As Eggon, Alago Youths Clash

Panic-stricken residents of Obi, headquarters of Obi local government area of Nasarawa State, yesterday fled their homes as Eggon and Alago natives clashed.Trouble allegedly started when some Eggon youths were apprehended on their way to an undisclosed mission in Awe local government area by security operatives in collaboration with some youths of Alago extraction.

Three-storey building collapses in Enugu

A three storey building with a pent house on Saturday collapsed in Enugu.
The State government through its commissioners for lands and the Enugu Capital Development Authority, Dr. Emeka Ujam and Engr. Ikechukwu Ugwuegede announced the revocation of the land when they visited the site.The building said to be owned by a Southern African based businessman, caved in at about 6.40 am.
Work on the collapsed building situated at plot 16 Nnobi street, Uwani Enugu was said to have been stopped since early last year for an undisclosed reason.

President Jonathan Rewards Silver Medalist Blessing Okagbare With N3m




President Goodluck Jonathan has rewarded African Queen of the track, Blessing Okagbare with the sum of N3 million for her heroic performance at the recently concluded 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championship in Moscow.
Okagbare won silver medal in the long jump with a leap of 6.99 metres and also finished third in the Women’s 200m race to put Nigeria on the medal table.

Eleven armed men stormed the family home of Super Eagles striker, Ahmed Musa, in Jos yesterday Wednesday September 4th. Fortunately he wasn't home as he is currently camped in Calabar with other team mates ahead of the Nigeria-Malawi encounter for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Nigeria Vs Malawi: Eagles Promise Victory



Super Eagles have promised to pick up the full points against the Flames of Malawi when they meet on Saturday. The team stand-in captain, Vincent Enyeama, who spoke on behalf of his teammates on Wednesday, said that the stake was too high to be toyed with. He said, “The camp is amazing and I thank God for that. The first training we had here was great with 12 players and I am optimistic that come Saturday we will win. Almost everybody is in camp now.”

Samuel Eto’o Joins Chelsea




Chelsea are to sign Samuel Eto’o on a stunning £7million one-year deal on Thursday after admitting defeat in their pursuit of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. 
According to Daily Mail, Eto’o, the 32-year-old Cameroon forward, is taking a huge pay cut from the £17m a year that made him the world’s best paid footballer at Anzhi Makhachkala and will sign on a free transfer.
