Police Arrest 7 Students Over Alleged Cultism In Nasarawa
NAN– The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Mr Umar Shehu, said on Friday that the command had arrested seven students of the state’s Polytechnic, Lafia, for suspected cultism activities.Shehu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia that the students, comprising five males and two females, were arrested following a clash between two suspected cult groups.
He said that although no life was lost, some students sustained various degrees of injuries, adding that those arrested would be taken to court after investigation on the incident.
Shehu said the command was committed to eradicating cultism in institutions of higher learning in the state.
The commissioner warned youths against indulging in cult activities and other vices to secure their future as leaders of tomorrow.
He advised them to focus on their academic pursuits to justify the resources their parents and guardians were investing in them.
The commissioner also called on parents to keep close watch on their children to guard them against the influence of bad friends.
